The number of picmins can be increased by bringing special chips or bodies of killed enemies to the spacecraft, but only a hundred assistants can be on the field at the same time.

The main goal of the game is to explore five vast territories using the help of newly acquired wards. Many places will be initially inaccessible to you: to get there, you will have to kill enemies, move objects, learn to cut the path and so on.

Most obstacles on your way are nothing but puzzles. Here, for example, is one of the ordinary situations: the fragments of the tiles from which you can build a bridge for the inaccessible part of the location are under water, and all the picmins in your subordination are afraid of it. We'll have to go to the other end of the location, find a new type of picmines, bring their number to the right amount (and for this you have to crank up a few more difficult pieces) and only then move on. There are a lot of such tasks, and variations are very different. You can even say that each of the five vast territories is a complex and carefully thought -out puzzle in itself, comparable to the "Zeldov" dungeons.

A consistent solution of problems leads to battles with bosses, which you can’t just defeat either: you need to study the behavior model and look for gaps in defense. Although the gaming mechanic does not contain any fundamentally complex elements worthy of competitors for Pikmin 3 is not easy to find. One hour of gameplay for each year of waiting? It will be not enough! There is, however, what to do after the completion of the plot campaign — for example, collect all the fruits (half is enough for passing) or sit down for a multi -user regime.

Although a single campaign cannot be passed in a cooperative for three (insulting!), the developers have created a separate mode for two players. In general, multiplayer is perceived as a pleasant supplement and prolongs the pleasure of the game for a few more days.

During the development of the project, Siger Miyamoto tirelessly repeated that Wii U was the perfect platform for Pikmin 3.
